It comes at no surprise that my love for October stems from halloween! Although, my costumes have gotten much more practical over the years, I still enjoy dressing up and celebrating with friends. Most of the time I rely on items already in my closet to make my costume ideas come to life. I was recently contacted by Redken to see if I wanted to incorporate their new color rebel hair makeup into a new look.

Well, of course I would never pass up the opportunity to think up a creative costume! My hair is pretty dark (even darker now than at the time of the tutorial) so I wanted to see if I could work in the gold "Guilty as Charged" into a hair tutorial. The first costume that came to mind was a greek goddess. Gold is a huge part of the costume, and I knew I could work the color into a braided up-do.

I choose to go with a milkmaid braid style (tutorial here), and finish with the color rebel makeup. The application was quite easy, once the sponge is applied and the container is given a good shake all you have to do is twist until the color is dispensed. I ended up using 2-3 applications, which resulted in quite the color pay-off. The gold has a sheen to it that I really liked, and would be perfect for this look. The color is temporary and washed out completely after two washes.

To get you into the Halloween spirit I'm doing a giveaway for one bottle of the Redken Color Rebel! To enter use the rafflecopter widget below and comment with what your planning to be for halloween!

xoxo,

Birdie

P.s I will be sharing the makeup tutorial behind this look later in the week!
