Short Style, Side Braid

Don’t let short hair fool you, braids are totally doable. Play up the top portion of your hair with this side braid! I'm the first to admit, that braiding takes practice. I've spent many mornings in front of the mirror wanting to pull my hair out or relieve my arm from the exhaustion of attempting to pull my hair back. After trial and error I've finally found a few braided styles that take but seconds to complete, which is a total lifesaver when it comes to covering up second-day hair.

This particular style happens to be one of them. It's not a full side crown, but it does line the outside face. If you are familiar with a french braid, then this tutorial should be a piece of cake, if not, practice makes perfect ;)

Step 1:  Start with a deep part to either side of your head, I prefer the right side but, either will do.

Step 2: Grab a triangle portion of hair from the smaller side of the part(about 1 1/2 inches) and divide hair into 3 equal parts. With the section of hair closest to your face, cross over the middle section of hair. Next, with the hair furthest from your face, cross over and bring to the middle. Bring the last remaining strand (now the closest to your face) and combine it with the hair furthest away. You should now only have 2 sections of hair.

Step 3: Grab another small section of hair (framing face) and repeat step 2. Continue this process until you reach the top of the ear.

Step 4: Once you've reached the top of your ear, continue to braid in a regular 3-strand fashion. When you reach the end of your hair secure with a clear elastic. That's it, the style itself is pretty simple but, it's a great braid to work with if your feeling bored with your stands.
