NYFW Spring 16' Hair Tutorial

If you’ve ever been behind the scenes at NYFW, you know that it can be both exhilarating and complete utter chaos. But, behind the chaos of models, hairstylists, and design assistants lies the ultimate inspiration. From intricately woven braids to sleek and straight locks, hair trends are some of my favorite styles to try off the runway.

Braided locks have come a long way since their days of the basic plait and French style. Now, stylists are adding textured elements to build volume to create the illusion of thick and full hair. This season I’ve seen braids both long and short dominating major designers and fashion influencers alike. Just a quick glance at Instagram will show you that braided styles are here to stay and are being reinvented, and twisted to fit the unique and fashion-forward minded. As a brand, smartwater celebrates success that happens in increments, inspiring and motivating you to go further on your journey. They understand that success happens in a series of mindful steps!

Personally, I stay inspired to take the braids I find both on and off the runway to make a style that suits my personal aesthetic. One particular style was an instant favorite. With a nod to the 70’s and a flare for the modern women, I knew I had to try my hand at recreating it. With the help of a 1” curling iron and a few clear elastics you too can try this style at home.

How do you stay inspired to translate trends off the runway?

This story is brought to you by smartwater, who believes in making progress every day little by little and sip by sip. That’s how you move up up up!
