Grab that dress you've been dying to wear and get ready to hit the town, it's date night! Whatever your celebratory plans may be, this beauty tutorial is sure to be the icing on top of your cake. For me date night is incredibly special, especially since me and the boy have never been busier. When we do find time to put together a night out, I'm always game to get my glam on. I've been dying to check out the new beauty products that've hit the shelves since the new year, so I decided a Target run was a must.
After doing a bit of light* shopping I headed to feast my eyes on the new selection of products, all of which were shown to me by Target's beauty concierge. The whole concierge initiative is to help guide you when shopping and searching for beauty and hair care. I'm seriously into this system considering I'm the person that usually winds up asking someone for help with finding a particular product. My concierge, Rebecca, couldn’t have been more helpful and was completely on board to recommend new products and share a few beauty tips and tricks. I mentioned to her about the upcoming date night and she threw out a few great ideas for looks to try out
After setting on a classic look of a cat eye and bold lip, she immediately took me to Maybelline’s new matte glosses. As I was certainly no stranger to the matte gloss hype, I was very excited to try out the “gloss” versions. She said that the consistency was that of a gloss but, the overall texture is very matte. When talking to her about the application of the product she recommended starting with a neutral lip liner to create a base that the gloss could adhere to, and thus last longer. Moving on to the eyes, we settled on a neutral eyeshadow quad from Sonia Kashuk. I had heard great things about the staying power and color pay-off of the line, and my concierge added that this particular quad would create a subtle definition based on my skintone.
Before jumping into skin products, I shared with her my combination skin-woes and never-ending search for the perfect foundation. She actually pointed out a few products to try out, and because I was there for the latest and greatest settled on Maybelline’s Velvet Foundation. She herself had just started using the product and described the coverage as nearly flawless. One thing that really saved me a TON of time was help with matching my skin tone. Another tip she recommended was that this particular product is best applied with a sponge or beauty blender. Last but, certainly not least I added a pair of false lashes and a blush quad (which is incredible!) to complete the look.
The whole process took less than 20 minutes and was a lot of fun! Judging by the final look and overall quality of the products I will definitely be coming back for a beauty visit. If you’d like to visit Target’s beauty concierge you can find them located at the end of the beauty aisle, wearing a black apron and carrying an iPad.
