What to Buy for Fall 2016
As summer comes to a close, I’m more excited than ever to jump into fall friendly attire. Since most of us will experience the change in seasons gradually, investing in key transitional pieces is a must. Fall is the time for thoughtful layering, richer jewel-tone color changes, and heavier fabrics. Rather than just investing in a thick wool coat or all-dark color palette check out these clothing ideas that you can wear now and later.
Parka
Nothing says smart dressing like a parka This lightweight outerwear is perfect for layering over blouses and t-shirts and looks great when styled with casual denim or corduroy. It’s somewhat of a classic city staple here in San Francisco, and to be honest I wear mine year round.
Scarves
Scarves are a staple in coastal cities all around the nation and a must-buy for fall. Longer neck scarves are great for casual days and can be wrapped or bundled when the weather begins to really cool off. Jewel tone hues, and neutral grey and tan colors are amongst the most popular shades this season but, don’t pass-up reds or burgundy shades just yet.

Those who have a love for 70's style will adore this must-have accessory. I love to style a structured wool hat, like this style with a floral long-sleeved dress. You can also pair this with structured outerwear and boots for a polished look when the weather really cools off.
Ring & Chain Crossbody
This summer we’ve seen the rise in popularity of crossbody bags through the likes of brands like Chloe and Celine. The trickle-down effect has produced similar styles to pop-up in more affordable outlets. This style is minimalistic but, perfect for someone who prefers to carry a smaller purse. Zara always has on-trend options and is a great starting point when handbag shopping.
Bomber Jacket
Silk and cotton contrast sleeve bombers will undeniably be one of the most sought after garments this year. With embroidered phrases, and old-world oriental designs this style is a must on all transitional shopping lists. Pair this style with casual ripped jeans or a fit and flare mini dress.

As someone who wears mules just about all year-round, I can personally attest to their versatility. If this is your first time purchasing a pair, opt for a neutral shade such as black, cognac, or dark brown.
