Late Fall Layering

I'm the first person to admit that I have a love/hate relationship with cold weather. While I love the thought of curling up with a cup of tea, the idea of freezing my ass off has little to no appeal. This past week was brutal (for San Francisco), I found myself bundling up in the mornings just to get to work and be dying of heat. Luckily, I've become quite the master at tactful layering.

Some equate skills like this to years of practice, while I have somewhat had to force myself to get into the habit of thinking about every single thing I wear. I've found myself on more than a few occasions showing up to my destination unable to take off my jacket because, wearing a "tank-top" in 45 degrees (and pale as a ghost) would be highly frowned upon.  One of the keys I've found is to invest in pieces that are both practical and warm. Great basic layering pieces like leggings or t-shirts are essential to any wardrobe.

I personally love Uniqlo's Heattech collection, it's perfect for layering under heavier pieces and won't add that dreaded bulk if you wear other garments on top of them. I recently wore the Heattech leggings under an oversized Lululemon sweatshirt while running errands. They were super stretchy and comfortable and kept we warm while on the move.

What are your late fall layering techniques?
