24hrs in Calistoga : Where to Stay

In recent years as Kevin and I have begun to travel more, we've become attracted to unique boutique hotels. Our wedding at the ACE in Palm Springs solidified our love for quirky touches and decor that aren't available through your typical chain hotel. Typically I'll keep an eye on my Instagram or Pinterest and save places that I think we'd like to stay, which is exactly how I came across the Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa. When I had originally done research on the boutique hotel I couldn't find ANYTHING, and even found it hard to find other pictures that showed more of the property. It turns out that this hidden little gem was undergoing a MAJOR renovation and had just recently finished phase one the month we took our visit.

CALISTOGA MOTOR LODGE & SPA

1880 Lincoln Ave,
Calistoga, CA 94515

The quaint property is located just outside of downtown Calistoga making it the perfect place to set up shop for the weekend. We arrived on a late Thursday afternoon and were immediately taken with the charming motor lodge set-up. Upon check-in, the receptionist informed us about their current construction and planned future renovations, which I'll share more about later in the post. One thing we found to be a great touch is the freshly ground coffee beans that were given to us to enjoy during our stay, it's the little things, right?

We ended up booking the king camper room which was slightly larger than most hotel rooms, and had a great layout! The room had a separate dining nook which also folded out into a queen bed! The decor was very 1970's but, not to the point where it looked kitschy.

During our stay, the spa just had its grand opening and was completely beautiful inside! We also were able to go for a swim at the pool and loved that it had space for lounging, not to mention private curtained-off trellis areas and hammock swings! We took advantage of the late pool hours to take a dip in their 3 mineral pools, which happen to be fed from hot springs below the property ground (so cool, right?) As I mentioned previously the property is still undergoing construction and is expected to have quite the expansion in the coming months.

The Motor Lodge will also be adding an outdoor cinema, restaurant, brewery, and beer garden! So needless to say Kevin and I are already talking about the next time we can schedule a trip!

XOXO,
