5 Tips for Making Fitness Resolutions Stick

1 // Mix up your routine

Just like any consistent habit, workout routines can run their course (literally). Mixing things up by taking different trails or changing your form of exercise, can add a much needed element of difficulty that will take you out of going through the motions.

2 // Make the most out of your workout

There's nothing less motivating then headed to a workout with a crappy attitude. It's bound to happen every once in awhile but, thinking positively can have a huge impact on how you perform during that period of time. Push yourself and give it your all, especially if you're heading to a fitness class that you pay for. Often times fitness studios charge high price points per class, some costing close to $35 per session. There's no point in even going if you aren't truly into it!

3 // Reward Yourself

Half of the battle to achieving your goals is reaching or meeting a personal best. This is a huge test of will power and something you should be proud of yourself for. If you're like me I always like to put a goal and reward system in place. For example, if I make it to 10 spin classes this month, I'll treat myself to a new pair of workout leggings. Having this in place can make you more aware of targeting your goals, not to mention who doesn't like to be treated?

4 // Grab a buddy

Sometimes workouts can seem tiresome, and frankly not so exciting. Having a friend or partner with you on your fitness journey can drive you to go the extra mile. For me, I don't mind heading to classes or the gym solo, but on longer runs, it's nice to have a friend with you. It may be a subconscious but, I think I push myself to run further when I know I have someone to endure it with me.

5 // Do it for the RIGHT reasons

One thing that always seems to derail fitness resolutions is setting goals based on revenge or another person. This should never be motivation for wanting to get healthy or into shape, especially if you're basing it on someone else's opinion of you! Set your own goals and try to keep in mind that you are your own ally.
