Achieving the Look, Collegiate Cool

Achieving the Look, Collegiate Cool via. Birdie Shoots

For many Fall signals the start of school and the time when we all start transitioning into our winter wardrobe. But, let's face it unless your living on the east coast, many Californians {like myself} get to experience a Indian Summer {it was 102 today & its October}, but a girl can dream or get extremely hot in wool jackets.

When the weather finally begins to let up, I will be all over this style. Varsity jackets are no longer reserved for the jocks and if you can get your hands on one they look amazing when paired with a stealth dress. The cross between sporty stripes and leather paired with more feminine pieces is the perfect boy meets girl style {who doesn't admire a little collegiate love}.

Look One: The wool stadium jacket is what really holds this look together. The striped waffle collar and two-tone gray and black combination gives a balance to the white lined pockets. Pick a dress with some color , add a belt to define the waist and really show off your curves. Go for a heel with a sporty edge, something that has stripes or a lace-up front like this pair from

Look Two: Leather and stripes and everything nice, or at least a all-black baseball cap. Mix a tough but chic leather skirt with a striped sweater or blouse. An oxblood leather skirt like this one by Alexander McQueen adds the perfect amount of edge to an outfit. If you prefer to wear a dress look for a silhouette with a drop-waist. The oxford booties are killer and a major lusting of mine. Finish off the look with an all-black cap, even better if you can find one in leather! {let me know if you do}

Look Three: A classic collegiate combination of a skirt and sweater. I always look for collars with embellishments, they're great day-to-night pieces, plus who doesn't love a little sparkle? The Edie bag from J.Crew is the perfect purse for the season and pairs with just about everything. Wedge sneakers give the look for of being casual, but the hidden wedge makes legs look amazing. When worn all together...winning combination.

xoxo,

Birdie
