Bohemian Living Room Inspiration

It's been a little over our first year since moving from San Francisco to the East Bay. We made the move in search of additional space and affordability, which if you live in Northern California, is somewhat unheard of. Although our rent may the same as city prices we've since doubled our space, inherited a small backyard, and added a pup to our family. It was definitely a move that we have thanked ourselves for making! I joke all the time that it takes me forever to decorate spaces because I like them to feel lived in, rather than perfectly put together.

I've since shared a few spaces we've completed, like our master bedroom (post here) and my office (seen here). I'm pretty happy with the way they came out, even though I still move things around from time to time. The next project on our to-do is our living room. This is a space we use most often, and one that has needed some attention since we moved in. While many of our pieces fit well, it still needs some finishing touches to make it shine.

Overall, our inspiration is heavily focused on a casual California style. We love using neutral tones and elements like wood and leather mixed with pieces that have stronger lines. We'd like to keep a similar vibe to our bedroom and focus on a relaxed space that we can entertain in, that still acts as a space for us to lounge and relax. The biggest design challenge lies in the room and position of the space in relation to the kitchen. The space is long and narrow and sits in line with the kitchen and dining space, which means we need to create separate areas to eat and lounge, while still feeling cohesive.
