Early Spring Capsule Essentials

Spring is finally in sight, and with the promise of warmer weather comes the opportunity to purchase a few new clothes and accessories! I’ve shared how over the last year I’ve started to fine-tune my closet, purging pieces that were poor quality or never received wear. I’m still in the process of honing in on what items I get the most wear out of while also being open to trying new styles that aren’t always obviously essential. The great thing about putting together a capsule wardrobe is you end up getting plenty of wear out of everything!

With that in mind, I’ll be sharing which clothing pieces I’ll be adding to my Everyday Spring wardrobe capsule. I’ll also be suggesting new seasonal styles that may inspire you to step outside your box and try a new trend or style.

Everyday Spring wardrobe Essentials

WHITE DENIM | CHAMBRAY DENIM SHIRTS | BASIC TEES | PASTEL SWEATER | LITTLE WHITE DRESS
SWEATSUIT-SET | LIGHT GREY DENIM | SMOCKED BLOUSE | LIGHT DENIM JACKET | T-SHIRT DRESS

I’ve spent years honing my taste which I like to think of as a casual, carefree nod to California style. I like to keep my style unpretentious and practical for my life as a busy mom without sacrificing style. I practically live in denim year-round and, for that reason, find it important to invest in high-quality denim. My current favorite jeans are the Nico by Agolde. The denim feels like butter, and the fit is incredible. I HIGHLY suggest purchasing a pair if you're in the market.

This season I am all about exaggerated sleeves on short-sleeved blouses. For styling purposes, they work best on warmer days when a jacket isn’t needed. Style them tucked into straight leg denim in a white or light grey wash (potentially acid-wash.) Going with classic styles with updated silhouettes allows for personalization when it comes to styling, making it all that more fun to style. These pieces are very spring-friendly and are a great updated nod to classic styles like chambray, 3/4 Zip Sweaters, T-Shirt dresses, and denim jackets.

When investing in new pieces for a capsule purpose, the best advice is to look at wearability and longevity. Ask yourself how many ways you can wear the top, pants, accessory, etc. and if it’ll be something you’ll want to reach for. I love trying new trends, but they need to be practical for my life and how often I intend to wear them. Another key tip when selecting pieces is to avoid items that may be too busy. I enjoy a print (especially florals in spring), but bringing in too many busy prints into a capsule collection really doesn't make sense to create multiple outfits.

ACCESSORIES

GOLD HUGGIE HOOPS | SUEDE ANKLE BOOTS | WOVEN TOTE | SNEAKERS | NUDE SUNGLASSES

I tend to keep my shoe and accessory line-up pretty classic. Typically in spring I’ll introduce a new white low-top sneaker or bag and keep the rest of my accessories pretty neutral. This includes sunglasses and hats as well. Since most jewelry and accessories don’t typically count towards your Capsule, it’s easy to change up the look of an outfit by introducing a statement earring, belt, or any other finishing touch.

Cheers,

Kelly
