Guest Bathroom Redesign Inspiration
We are officially one-month in our new home! As things begin to fall into their places and the moving boxes start to disappear, we’ve decided to begin to focus our efforts on doing some dedicated room projects. The first on the list is the guest (or hall) bathroom. The space was one of the only rooms in the house that didn’t get an update, so we’re focusing on a cosmetic update so it can continue to be both functional and beautiful!
In this post, we’ll share our bathroom inspiration, our needs and wants for space, and a look into our design mock-up.
For this project, we’ll be focusing on a redesign and just updating materials, hardware, and adding wallpaper. The vanity was a new addition and worked well, so we’ll be keeping it as it, or maybe updating the color (TBD!). At first, I wanted to do a bold wallpaper in the space, but I keep going back to a clean and streamlined look like the inspiration images seen below. As for fixtures, I want to do a mix of both modern and classic finishes and mixed metals. I prefer mixing metals as too much of the same finish, and color starts to look bland and model home-like.
We’re lucky that the space is already bright and filled with natural light, so we’d love to emphasize that by using natural textures and lighter wood like white oak or pine. The bathroom will need to be very child-friendly since this is where we bathe Evie. We’ll also need to maximize storage since our master bathroom is seriously lacking in this department. To do this, we’ll be including a leaning ladder for towel storage and keeping most products concealed in the vanity.
Bathroom redesign checklist
Update mirror
Update/remove vanity lighting
Update Hardware
Hang Wallpaper
Update Show Curtain
Add Additional Storage
Since this project won’t involve any extensive repairs or construction, it shouldn’t take much longer than a dedicated weekend. Since our walls are pretty heavily textured, we will be adding sizing to the walls to ensure the wallpaper we selected adheres nicely. Some of the other decor pieces may take a while to find since I’ll be looking to add a vintage rug by the sink in addition to sourcing the perfect lighting for above the mirror. I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated on the progress on Instagram!
Do you have any tips for hanging wallpaper in a small space? Leave them in the comments below and let me know your thought on the shared mock-up!
Cheers,
Kelly
