How to change your skincare Routine to Transition between Seasons
Many of us have already made steps to begin moving out our larger winter coats, trading them for lighter pieces for spring. Just as you would transition your wardrobe, your skincare routine should also evolve to meet your changing needs. With the temperatures on the rise, it’s only logical that you’ll no longer need the heavy moisturizer that shielded your face during the winter months. Rather than changing this up too drastically, I prefer to stick to my go-to brand, Olay and opt for a lighter, creamier formula.
If your skin is anything like mine I’m normally highly sensitive to change, and typically experience a break-out when things go from cold-hot and vise-versa. In the hopes of making this seasonal transition a little less painful on my skin, I introduced a lighter, whipped formula of a moisturizer I already used in my winter routine. Since many of the key ingredients are consistent between both the products, the only real change was with the texture of the two. Olay Whips features a light and airy consistency that blends seamlessly into the surface of your skin to create the perfect thin barrier.
Spring Morning Routine Step-by-step
Thus far my morning routine has transitioned to include a serum with vitamin-c, which I apply after washing my face with a topical cleanser (I like this one best). After lightly dabbing in the serum, I use my ice-roller to further penetrate the skin for a deeper hydration. This prevents the serum from just sitting on top of the skin and also makes my multi-step routine possible, not to mention it feels incredible in the morning!
After my serum has been well blended, I next apply Olay Whips all over my face and neck. A little goes a long way with this product, so you really don’t need more than a quarter-sized portion. The formula blends beautifully with the surface of the skin and helps lock in moisture without looking oily. The consistency is indeed a whipped formula and actually reminds me of a beauty primer texture. Next, I jump into my beauty routine (you can read more about that here), and lastly, finish with an SPF primer to lock everything in and protect my skin.
More than anything lightening up your routine will keep your skin happy, allow it to breathe and keep you looking youthful and fresh-faced. I’d be interested to hear if anyone has tried Olay whips and how you utilize it in your spring routine.
