How to Plan A Weeks Worth of Outfits

Let me preface this by saying that I've never been a morning person. Between the struggles of hitting snooze and being a literal zombie (pre-coffee) the early hours are just not my thing. With a 9-5 (or in my case 7-3:30) I've somewhat forced myself to get my sh*t together and be out the door on time! The key to this sped-up timeline can mostly be contributed to pre-planning my outfits the week or evening before. This may seem like a small trick, but the benefits are huge! If you're anything like me, finding something to wear, when I'm pressed on time is not only stressful but also seems to take an incredibly long time!

Jam-packed week ahead? Deadlines galore? Carve out an hour on Sunday evening to pull looks to wear for the week ahead. Most times I start by taking a peek at the forecast, but since San Francisco is pretty consistent I can typically get away with any kind of layering. In general I keep it pretty casual when dressing for work. I stick to a game plan of wearing a majority of denim and maybe a dress or two.

Because of this low-key dress code it's easier for me to pin-point a key item and build from there. Typically, I always kick off the week with something comfortable, and rely on a stretchy pair of denim or boyfriend jean. I mean, it's the first day back from the weekend, who wants to feel claustrophobic in a mini-dress, not me! The mid-week days tend to be a little easier and more than often I step my game up with a fun blouse or dress and sweater combo, this way I can swap the sweater if it warms up.

Organizing what you pick is most easily done when you have a clothing rack or extra closet space. Once you have your weeks worth of looks pair everything and hang them together. If I'm wearing denim I'll fold them in half and hang them over the middle portion of the hanger and then place the blouse over the arms and follow it up with outerwear. This way I can easily pull the single hanger and have everything together. If you're feeling extra pressed for time you can also include your bra and underwear, especially if you plan on wearing something that requires a certain shade or style.
