A lesson in layering..

Any well-planned layered look needs to start with the basics! This could be your favorite pair of skinnies or a jersey tee, both of which are great basics to have in your wardrobe. Since Fall is a transitional season it’s great to have an outfit that you can add to or take anyway pieces from. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve planned for cold weather, and it ends up being 75 and sunny.

The next layer to come about is the middle piece; this should function as the warmth of your look. Think puffy quilted vests or a killer leather trench; these add both functionality and style to your look. Ever since Zara released their version of the leather-sleeved trench last season {sadly all sold-out}, I've been obsesssssing, yes that much over leather outerwear.

Since layers can add a little bulk it's sometimes hard to add on a necklace. Stick to light scarves or thicker if your located in a cooler climate. The patterns and textiles are endless and this season it's all about mixing prints-so let loose!

Hope you all had an amazing holiday weekend!

xoxo,

Birdie
