Met Ball 2013

A sick infusion of punk edge style and touch notch gowns walked the red carpet for the 2013 Met Ball.  Usually, I don't do best dressed lists, but the met gala is an exception {how could I pass up an opportunity to talk about these designs?}. Clearly at the top of my list was the ever-evolving Rooney Mara, I love how she went for an angelic look in white Givenchy Couture. The gown cascaded down in luscious ruffles and featured a scandalous deep neckline. Oh yeah, how major is her dark burgundy lip? My second dress infatuation came on the form of Kate Bosworth {surprise, surprise}, I love how she didn't take the punk meets fashion theme to heart. Choosing rather to interpret it in boho fashion rather than head-to-toe leather and spikes.

Over the the dark side..or should I say light is the newly blond-haired Anne Hathaway. At first I was at odds with her gown choice, but it grew on me. Not sure if it was in part due to her new hair, but the outfit worked for me! Rita Ora glammed it up in Thakoon, opting to use chains as her punk influence.

Because no best dressed list is ever complete without Sienna Miller. I am a sucker for girl meets tom boy looks and this Burberry look certainly plays the part. I have to say I wasn't a fan of the Kei$ha style hair, but she looked gorgeous..so that over-ruled that argument. Can I get a round of applause for J.Lawrence, not only is she incredibly funny but, this girl has her red carpet style down. The embellished Christian Dior tea length gown made me think of The God Save the Queen Sex Pistols Poster.

What was your favorite look of the night?

xoxo,

Birdie
