Rental Life, Decorating with Minted & Link-Up

When my fiance (then boyfriend) and I moved into our rental in San Francisco, we had big plans for the white-walled space. Our living room is the largest room in the home and one we frequently spend time in. In order to keep our landlord happy we opted to skip the idea of painting and spend our time investing in artwork to fill the space. We both have an eye for modern, minimalist photography and design so creating a concept wasn’t the challenge, planning for the space was.

We set our slights on a pair of walls near our entertainment center. It had been left untouched since moving-in and we knew it was just begging to be styled with a large-scale print. Even though it’s biggest room, the overall square footage of our home is quite small, so decorating with art can be challenging. The trick here is balance, and with a few new pieces of wall art from Minted, we achieved it!

The biggest tip I can suggest when picking out art is starting with a game plan. Know the size of your wall and the dimensions of space that you’d like to have filled with art. When we started we knew that we wanted a large-scale print around 30 x 40”. When shopping at Minted, you have the option to create a mock-layout with favored artwork. This makes it easily to visualize how things will look when paired together, and also how they might fit within your space.

I instantly fell for the piece Abstract simple geometric design, in theory it's very basic, but is beautiful when framed in a matte brass. After we hung the piece I realized that our couch pillows are in a similar pattern and pick up so nicely with the design. To accompany the large scale print we also selected Ocean Avenue (16" x 20"), the color palette is balanced and within the the scheme of other pieces in the room.

Big thank you to Minted for sponsoring this post and making our space come to life!

xoxo,

Birdie
