The Key Pieces I'm Investing in This Fall

The fall season is by far my favorite time of the year. I’m a girl who loves her layers so it's no surprise that my key-pieces this season are aligned with this styling point of view. Between a darker color palette and new prints, it’s safe to say that I’ve had a had time settling on only a handful of pieces to incorporate into my existing wardrobe. When shopping for a new season it’s all about balance and being realistic about how often that new piece would actually be worn. Sometimes it's better to splash out a little more money on an item you’ll wear year-after-year than a trendy piece that may only be suited for a few months.

Patent Accessories

I’ll take the approach of wearing patent accessories that are less pretty women and more 90’s centric. Being pregnant I’ll noticed my attention being shifted from clothing to accessories, which isn’t very surprising considering I’ve been living in more basic pieces. I personally fell in love with this top-handle patent leather handbag and have been wearing it with everything. The size is perfect for toting around, and even fits my DSLR camera with a small lens.

Suede Jacket

The suede jacket has been in many of our fall wardrobes for years. The style itself is quite timeless and a very versatile piece to invest in. I’m lucky enough to have a neutral colored style and thought this season would be the perfect time to invest in a colored option. This suede moto jacket was something I was eyeing in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale that ended up being the perfect addition. The key here is to find a jacket style you already love and upgrade to a new color or print.

More (faux) Animal Print

This summer proved that animal print is a staple that's here to stay! Personally, I’m thrilled and love to style leopard whenever possible. I personally prefer an edgier take on the print when styling it, and opt for boots over heels, or moto jackets or feminine staples. The long sleeve leopard smocked dress was also an end of summer purchase that I’ve been getting plenty of wear out of. Since the fall season still tends to be warm in the Bay Area I’ve been able to wear it solo and also with a jacket on chillier nights (as pictured).

Which pieces are you gravitating towards most this season?

Cheers,

Birdie
