Where you Should be Staying in Denver, Colorado

DENVER, CO

The capital of Colorado

You may remember that Kev and I recently visited Colorado over Labor Day weekend. We were in Denver to visit an old friend of ours and to enjoy a show at Red Rocks (which BTW, is incredible!) The Kimpton Monaco was gracious enough to help us out during our time in Denver and their downtown hotel location did not disappoint! I’m sure if you follow me on Instagram you’ll remember my stories of the room tour and the beyond gorgeous suite that had all the comforts of home. The one thing I’ll say about Kimpton hotels is their rooms and amenities are always impeccably clean and accommodating.

As a general rule of thumb, we always try and find hotels that are near or close to the center of things. This allows us to be able to walk to plenty of restaurants and bars without having to deal with transportation or long-winded directions. The Kimpton Monaco was no exception to this with a great central location in downtown Denver! During our stay, we made it our routine to walk up the block to grab coffee each morning and scope out breakfast ideas. The food scene in Denver is UNREAL! I thought San Francisco was on top of things, but after flying home a few pounds heavier I think we have a clear winner.

I’m not sure if we just had the luck of a local showing us around, but in all honesty, we did not have a single bad meal. Each place we ate (including a few food trucks) was packed with flavor, incredibly affordable with friendly service. There was no eye rolling when we asked for recommendations, but more so a willingness to share menu items they loved and the things they pass on. Below are a few of our favorite spots (and dishes):

Syrup Downtown: Perfect location close to The Monaco (walking distance). We opted to grab breakfast sandwiches with a side of tots, which were delicious! Their waffle maker was down during the time we visited, but I’ve heard they’re delicious!

Bacon Social House: A little outside of downtown, this gem of a brunch spot has quite the flavorful menu! I would highly recommend the Sunshine pancake with lemon-ricotta, fresh berries, and a mascarpone whip! This is also one of the few places that take reservations!

Revelry Kitchen: This was by far my favorite place we ate during our time in Denver. We all agreed that it was one of the better brunches we had EVER had. Do yourself a favor and order a warm cinnamon roll for the table to share. Each of us ordered something different from the menu and were all HIGHLY impressed, so you really can’t go wrong!

One place we missed, but will be sure to check out during our next visit is the hotel bar and restaurant, Panzano! At the time the reservations were booked, but we heard from our friend that its incredible. This definitely makes sense since it’s been awarded Four Diamonds by AAA six years in a row! I’m already plotting out the time when we can make a return visit to Denver, maybe post-baby so I can finally try their local breweries and craft cocktails!

Have you ever visited Denver? If so I’d love to hear your favorite spots to eat and drink!

xoxo,

Birdie
