Your Guide to Nice, France Part 2

I’m back with part two of my Nice travel diary! If you haven’t seen the first post yet, check it out here. One of the most incredible things about Nice, is the endless amount of things to do by foot. During our stay we were able to get two different AirBnB’s one in old town and another in the town center. Both areas are completely walkable but, are totally different in terms of old world and new. Our first apartment we stayed in was right in the middle of the plaza, making it very close to fabulous shopping and dining. It was nice to be able to pick up a few clothing pieces we had forgotten to pack prior to leaving the states (thank you Zara!) In terms of food, there was still plenty of charming little restaurants and cafes, but it wasn’t mom and pop style.

The second apartment was on the edge of old town, and very close to the market and beach. It was very cool (and different) to be in the middle of all of the craziness, but did get a bit overwhelming at times; especially when tourist and locals would pack the streets. We ended up going to the open market several times to browse the locally made soaps, and grab a fresh pastry on our way to the beach. A family friend had reached out before hand to let us know that the beaches in Nice aren’t your typical sandy shores. In fact, they’re mostly all rock, which makes water shoes a must!

We ended up opting to pay for a half-day at one of the beach clubs which gave us two chairs and towels at $20 a piece. It was pricey considering we still bought drinks throughout the day. After this we decided to purchase a few mats and set up on our own. One of our favorite things to do in the evenings before dinner, was to grab a drink at a local bar or pub, which they have plenty of. Wine is very affordable, even more so than hard alcohol, so we’d split a bottle of Rose or French varietal.

xoxo,

Birdie
