A New Approach to Valentines Day Dressing
From the first of January till the fourteenth of February my Instagram feed becomes flooded with countless pictures of rosy tulle skirts, heart balloons, and sweet treats. As much as I'd like to live in a word with rose colored glasses, I can guarantee you half of these skirts won't see the light of day, the balloons will become deflated and the sweets will be devoured by bloggers in their sweatpants while their edit their photo shoots. In an effort to cut out the BS that comes with such a holiday I decided to take a realistic approach to dressing for the occasion.
Before my post starts to sound pretentious or love-hating, I'd gladly admit that I'm happy in love and do intend on celebrating the occasion. To me, Valentine's day has always been on the casual side, no glamorous ball gowns or rooms filled with roses. For the past three years, Kev and I have made a tradition of packing up a bag full of goodies (with plenty of rosé) and heading to a park here in the city or Sausalito.
Since the weather seems to be at odds with our outdoor plans this year, we'll be treating ourselves to one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Even though I'll be ditching the denim for culottes, I'll be happily doing so with less frill and more love.
