Seasonal Refresh, The pieces to Buy Now!
This post was written in partnership with Wantable, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own
A few 85 degree days means its time stash the sweaters and introduce a few warm-weather pieces to my wardrobe. Summer welcomes a fresh slate, not only the natural surroundings but, also your wardrobe. I feel like as soon as a new season officially starts retailers being pumping out a ton of new arrivals, trends, and styles. As much as I love the occasional online shopping session, sifting through page after page can be a tad overwhelming! In an effort to avoid seasonal trends and find pieces that will take me through the year, it’s important for me to invest in transitional prints and a timeless color palette. I’m thrilled to partner with Wantable to help cut through the endless online scrolling and actually be able to try-on a custom clothing edit in my own home!
If you’re not familiar with Wantable, it’s a service curated towards both men and woman where a personal stylist with creating a monthly edit based on your clothing and accessory needs. In all honesty, the service has been awesome to be a part of! Their stylists are incredibly focused on delivering the best service and even allow you to link a Pinterest board based on your personal style (in addition to their in-depth style quiz). I knew I wanted to focus on great basics for the summer season and was given more than a few options to choose from.
CLASSIC COTTON
This season simple silhouettes are making their way into wish-lists and shop carts everywhere. A classic cotton tee is a must-have during the warmer summer months and an item you’ll continually reach for year-after-year. Because of its timeless nature, I prefer to invest in quality designers and fabrics, among my favorites are Michael Stars and Splendid.
Layer(able) Blouses
Finding a blouse that’s both stylish and acts as a base layer can be challenging. Search for styles that are well-made to avoid the see-through materials or blended materials that can break down over time.
DENIM
When balancing work and social life, most of us like to know that our denim investment can do double-duty. For those with flexible working environments denim is essential, however, that doesn’t mean you should be showing up with bare knees and tattered threads. The straight-leg silhouette is polished without looking overly trendy. I still wear denim throughout the summer so this style is perfect for pairing with light blouses or tanks.
Transitional Trends
Billowed Sleeves: Getting dressed should be fun! One of the most celebrated blouse trends of the summer is bell sleeves. This nostalgic sixties-inspired style focuses on exaggerated and billowy sleeves. The silhouette of this style makes this a well-appointed addition to any summer wardrobe. For a high-fashion take on this look try pairing a flared sleeve blouse with a pair of bell-bottoms or a suede midi skirt.
Midi-long Dresses: I've always loathed the term "maxi dress", for some reason I always associate the word with a frumpy garment, and this is NOT an accurate description of this style of dress. The long dress silhouette is perfect for summer evenings, BBQ's, or the occasional casual wedding. I personally live in this style during spring and summer, so having a few go-tos is essential. Normally, I opt for a good mix of both cotton and chiffon styles in solids or lightly printed fabrics.
Suit-Up: The resurgence of coordinated sets has been flourishing since the start of the year. For summer opts for short/blazer sets that can be styled together or worn solo. Pair them with simple silk or cotton tanks for an effortless look! I particularly love this when worn in a stripe print or pastel shade range.
