Summer Separates with ModCloth
This post is written in partnership with ModCloth and Collectively, all opinions are my own!
As a girl who was born and raised in the heat of California's Bay Area my style preferences always lean towards cool and comfortable separates. Don't get me wrong, I love a breezy sundress but, there's just something about a two-pieces skirt and blouse combo that hits the mark during summer's sweltering heat! A few weeks ago Kev and I took a trip to do a bit of exploring, which meant we'd be on our feet for a majority of the afternoon. Quick note, I do not advise walking through gravel in platform espadrilles! But, then again they did look good with the outfit.
This flowy striped skirt from ModCloth was a dream to wear that afternoon! In comparison to other skirts, this style has a partial elastic waist which lends itself to a comfortable fit, that doesn't tug or pull when sitting. I liked that it had the illusion of an accordion skirt without the pleats, which sometimes end up getting creased. When styling a skirt that sits higher on the waist I prefer to wear a cropped blouse over tucking in a top. This cropped collared button-down had a classic feel that fit nicely and hit right above the waist. I ended up wearing a Medium and while it was tighter around the bust, it was looser at the bottom. If you are larger chested I'd recommend going up a size!
