One of the best things about being a girl-mom is doing things together as a pair! Coordinating our hairstyles is just one fun activity that connects us and allows us to spend a special time together on busy mornings. Since so much of our mornings are focused on routine, this has become a time that both of us look forward to. Plus, it helps ease my daughter into getting dressed and ready for the day, which is a HUGE help! I’m sharing our styling essentials from Goody® along with three mother-daughter inspired hairdos in today’s post.

Whether you want control or creativity, Goody is always looking for ways to delight every hair type and texture.

Low-bun & Double Space Buns

I remember when Evie had just enough hair to do a single little bun on the top of her head. It was adorable! Now, with quite a bit of hair for an almost-two-year-old, we are challenged with not only keeping her hair out of her eyes but also away from her face when she eats or plays. The double space buns are perfect for days when you know your toddler will be active.

Toddler Double Space Buns

  1. (optional) Start by lightly misting your child’s hair with water. Slightly damped hair will help you part much more comfortably, especially since most toddler hair has wild cowlicks.

  2. Using a comb, part down the center of the head. Separate into two sections of hair.

  3. Using Goody® SlideProof Claw Clip secure one section of hair to the side.

  4. Comb hair towards the back of the head and secure hair with a Goody® Ouchless® Elastic (Goody® sells a line of girl’s elastics that are perfect for this style!)

  5. Pull hair through the Goody® Ouchless® Elastic as if you were going to make a ponytail. Instead of pulling all the wall through, STOP to create a small bun.

  6. Remove the Claw Clip from the opposite side and do steps 4-5.

Mom-Approved Low Bun

  1. Brush through hair, removing any tangles.

  2. With a comb, find your desired part. I prefer the center part, but the choice is yours.

  3. From here, comb hair toward the back of the neck, being careful to remove any stubborn bumps or flyaways.

  4. Using Goody® Ouchless® Elastic , secure hair into a ponytail at the nape of your neck.

  5. Begin wrapping hair in a circular motion creating a round bun. Once all hair has been twisted securely with Goody® Ouchless® Elastic . These elastics have a 16 strand inner core for a strong, no-slip hold, which is perfect for busy days!

Hair Twisties

I can remember wearing twisties with small butterfly clips when I was little. The look was trendy and one I’m sure many of you remember fondly. Goody is really into hair—what’s now, what’s new, and what will always be in style! Hair twisties are incredibly easy to do, even for girls who are on the younger side. While multiple twisties may be too much of a juvenile look for moms, a single twist-waterfall braid can be fun while still looking polished and put together. The key to both styles is using bobby pins with a slide proof grip to keep hair in place. Luckily, Goody® SlideProof Bobby Pins do just that!

Toddler Double-Twisties

  1. Start with damp hair. You can also use a spray bottle to dampen hair before starting.

  2. Part hair down the middle, combing hair to either side of the head.

  3. Section off one ½” section of hair and secure Goody® SlideProof Claw Clip . Do the same to the other side.

  4. Release the hair in one section and comb through, removing any knots.

  5. Starting from the front hairline, begin twisting hair in counterclockwise motions, pulling backward as you twist.

  6. Once your twistie reaches the crown of the hair (the highest spot on the head, toward the back), secure with a small Goody® Ouchless® Elastic.

  7. Repeat on the opposite side, starting with steps 4-7.

  8. You can repeat this process and create more than two twisties. For younger girls under three, I’d recommend sticking with two! Older girls may have a bit more patience and use a Goody® SlideProof Bobby Pins instead of an elastic.

Single Waterfall Braid

  1. Start with your part slightly off-center to the left or right. I prefer left.

  2. Gather a large 3”+ section of hair along the part line.

  3. Divide this section of hair into three sections

  4. Take the back stand and cross it forwards over the middle strand.

  5. Then, Take the front stand and cross it over the middle strand.

  6. Next, take the back strand and include an additional small section of hair with it.

  7. Cross this new back strand over the middle section.

  8. Leave the front section and take a new section of hair from BEHIND the front strand.

  9. Cross this new section over the middle.

  10. You will begin to notice a pattern starting to form. Continue to repeat the same steps of taking the back strand and add a new section of hair into it.

  11. Secure it with a Goody® SlideProof Bobby Pins that matches your hair shade.

Half-up / half-down & Double Ponytail

On most busy mornings, we stick to our go-to of the half-up, half-down hairstyle for Evie. It takes less than a minute to create and lasts all day without issues! This style is also very easy to accessorize with additional bows or colorful clips, making it a fun one for toddlers! The mommy version of this style has long been my favorite hair-hack to creating the illusion of longer hair! This is a great everyday style but can also be glammed up with a high-shine hairspray or hair accessories for a semi-formal occasion!

Half-Up, Half-Down

  1. With hair combed through, section top half of hair starting for the top of the ears.

  2. Brush this section back, pulling hair towards just below the crown of the head.

  3. Secure hair with a Goody® Girl’s Small Ouchless® Ponytail Holder.

    Double Ponytail

  4. Section hair into two, in a half-up, half-down style, similar to the toddler style. Using a hair tie back, secure the lower half.

  5. Comb through top hair, and begin back-combing at the top crown of the head, creating volume.

  6. Smooth the top section of hair and secure a Goody® Forever™ Elastic.

  7. Gather the remaining hair underneath and secure it with a hair-tie just under the top section, creating a double ponytail.

  8. Finish the style with a light-hold hairspray. To make the look more fun, wrap a Goody® Ouchless® Scrunchie around both hair sections to finish the look. These scrunchies are designed for medium to thick hair so that they will hold the look together!
